Privacy Policy
Effective 25 August 2026 · Last updated 1 September 2026
Your reading stays private. Fleuron has no account, sign-in, advertising, behavioral analytics, or server that receives your books or reading activity. Your books, notes, highlights, vocabulary, reading position, and preferences stay on your device. If you purchase Fleuron Full, limited anonymous purchase information is processed by Apple and RevenueCat so the purchase can be validated, restored, and used to unlock the app.
Who this is from
Fleuron is made and published by Adib Ashraf, an independent developer. Where the law requires someone to be named as the controller of personal data, that is who it is. You can reach that person directly at hello@fleuron.page.
This policy covers the Fleuron app for iPhone and iPad, and the website at fleuron.page.
What stays on your device
Everything the app is for. None of the following is transmitted anywhere by Fleuron, and none of it is readable by us:
- Your books. EPUB files you import are copied into Fleuron's own storage and stay there.
- Your reading. Position, bookmarks, reading time, streaks, and per-book settings.
- Your writing. Notes, highlights, and anything you type into them.
- Your vocabulary. Saved words, review history, and what the app has judged you already know.
- What the app derives. Word senses, readings, difficulty scores, and the Compass character index are all computed on your device from your own books and stored beside them.
- Your preferences. Theme, fonts, layout, language settings, and the Intelligence switches.
Deleting the app deletes all of it. iOS or iPadOS may include Fleuron's data in your device backup; that backup is yours and Apple's, and is governed by Apple's terms, not ours.
When the app uses the network
Fleuron is offline-first. It reaches the network in the following four situations.
| What | Where | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| Book details Cover art, publisher, publication year and a blurb, when the EPUB you imported does not carry them. | Open Libraryopenlibrary.org | The book's ISBN, or its title and author. Nothing else. The result is cached so a book is looked up at most once. |
| The Supertonic voice Only if you go to Settings → Voices and choose it. Read-aloud otherwise uses the voices already on your iPhone or iPad and downloads nothing. | Hugging Facehuggingface.co | Nothing but the request for the files. No text from your books is sent — the voice runs on your device once downloaded. |
| Links you tap This policy, the terms, the support page, a licence, or the App Store. | Wherever the link goes | Whatever your browser normally sends. Fleuron adds nothing to it. |
| Purchases and unlock verification | Apple App Store and RevenueCat | Apple handles the financial transaction. RevenueCat receives an SDK-generated anonymous purchaser identifier, the Apple receipt and transaction information, product and entitlement status, and limited app/device technical information needed to validate and restore the purchase. Fleuron does not send RevenueCat your name, email address, Apple Account, payment details, advertising identifier, books, notes, vocabulary, searches, or reading activity. |
Apart from checking purchase status, Fleuron makes no other network requests unless you use one of the features described above. RevenueCat may refresh cached purchase status when the app checks whether Fleuron Full is unlocked.
The Intelligence features
Lens and Compass use Apple's on-device foundation models where your iPhone or iPad supports them. That processing happens on the device itself: the sentences being examined are not sent to us, and they are not sent to Apple. On hardware without those models, Fleuron falls back to its bundled dictionaries and its own analysis, which are also entirely on-device. You can turn both features off in Settings, under Intelligence.
Every dictionary Fleuron uses — English, Japanese, Korean and Chinese — ships inside the app. Looking up a word never leaves the device, and there is no lookup service to log it.
Purchases
Fleuron is a free download with one non-consumable in-app purchase, Fleuron Full. Apple processes the payment and does not give Fleuron or RevenueCat your payment-card details.
Fleuron uses RevenueCat, Inc. as a purchase infrastructure provider and data processor. RevenueCat receives an SDK-generated anonymous purchaser identifier, Apple receipt and transaction information, product and entitlement status, and limited technical information such as device type and operating-system version. This information is used only to validate purchases, prevent purchase fraud, restore an earlier purchase, unlock Fleuron Full, and provide aggregate purchase reporting.
Fleuron does not provide RevenueCat with your name, email address, Apple Account, advertising identifier, books, notes, vocabulary, reading activity, or custom subscriber attributes. RevenueCat attribution identifier collection, diagnostics, advertising integrations, and external analytics integrations are disabled.
RevenueCat processes this information on our behalf and may store it using infrastructure in the United States. Its handling of data is described in the RevenueCat Privacy Policy. Purchase records may be retained as necessary to maintain lifetime purchase and restoration history, meet contractual requirements, prevent fraud, and comply with applicable law.
System features Fleuron uses
- Spotlight. If you leave it on, your books, notes and saved words are indexed so you can find them from the iOS or iPadOS search field. That index is on your device, held by the operating system, and is not shared with us.
- Notifications. Optional streak reminders are scheduled locally on your device. There is no push server, so nothing is sent for a notification to be delivered.
- Live Activities and the widget. Show what you are reading now, from data already on the device.
- Shortcuts and Siri. Open a book or start narration. Handled by iOS or iPadOS.
What Fleuron does not do
- No accounts, no sign-in, no profile.
- No analytics about reading, app behavior, searches, books, or feature usage. RevenueCat processes only purchase history for purchase validation and aggregate purchase reporting.
- No advertising, no advertising identifier, no tracking across apps or websites — and so nothing that requires the App Tracking Transparency prompt.
- No selling of personal information and no sharing for advertising or cross-app tracking. Limited anonymous purchase information is shared only with RevenueCat as our purchase-processing service provider.
- RevenueCat is the only third-party SDK that processes information from the app, and it processes only the limited purchase and technical information described above. Fleuron's other libraries operate locally.
Children
Fleuron does not knowingly collect names, contact information, reading data, or profiles from children. A purchase made through Apple is subject to the same limited anonymous purchase processing described above.
The website
fleuron.page sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Your chosen language is remembered in your browser's own local storage, on your device.
The site asks nothing of you. There is no signup form and no account: the only thing it collects is the language preference above, and the only thing it asks is that you follow a link to the App Store when you want the app. Addresses collected by the earlier beta signup form are deleted on request at hello@fleuron.page.
The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes request data — including IP addresses — to deliver pages and block abuse, as any web host does. Cloudflare acts as our processor under its own privacy terms.
Your rights
Laws including the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and delete personal data held about you. Your books, reading data, notes, vocabulary, and preferences are already in your hands, on your device, and deleting the app deletes them. For an email address given to the website, write to hello@fleuron.page and we will delete it and confirm that we have.
For questions or requests involving RevenueCat purchase information, contact us at the address below. Because Fleuron has no account and uses anonymous purchaser identifiers, we may need limited additional information to locate and verify the relevant purchase record. Some transaction information may need to be retained to preserve purchase restoration, prevent fraud, or comply with legal obligations.
Changes to this policy
If Fleuron ever begins collecting something, this page will say so before that version ships, and the effective date at the top will change. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes. This page is the current version; there is no archive, so if you need to keep a copy of what you agreed to, save one.
