Terms of Use
Effective 25 August 2026 · Last updated 25 August 2026
Fleuron is a free download with one purchase that unlocks it, once, forever. There is no subscription and no account. Your books stay yours, and what you write in Fleuron stays yours. These terms say the rest of it plainly.
1. The agreement
Fleuron is licensed to you, not sold, by Adib Ashraf ("we", "us"). Downloading or using the app means you accept these terms. If you do not, delete the app; you may ask Apple for a refund under Apple's own policy.
Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of Fleuron. Where these terms and Apple's standard agreement conflict, Apple's prevails for the matters it covers.
2. What you may do
You get a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use Fleuron on the Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's usage rules — which include Family Sharing, if you have it enabled.
You may not:
- copy, distribute or sell the app, or make it available on a network for others to use;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except to the extent that law expressly permits despite this restriction;
- remove or obscure any copyright or attribution notice in it;
- use it to break the law, or to infringe anyone's copyright.
3. Your books, and your writing
Fleuron reads EPUB files you already have. You are responsible for having the right to the books you import; we neither supply them nor check them.
Everything you create in Fleuron — notes, highlights, saved words, your reading history — is yours. It is stored on your device, we have no copy, and we claim no rights in it. Because there is no server, there is also no way for us to recover it if you lose the device or delete the app. If it matters to you, keep a device backup.
4. The purchase
Fleuron downloads free and can be read in without paying: the full reader, both Intelligence features, the Notebook and every dictionary all work, with one book of your own. The in-app purchase — a one-time, non-consumable unlock — lifts that to as many books as you like. It is bought once and stays bought.
- It is not a subscription. Nothing recurs, and nothing is charged again.
- Price and currency are shown on the purchase screen before you buy, in your own currency, and are set through the App Store.
- Payment is Apple's. Your Apple Account is charged on confirmation. We never see your payment details.
- Restore Purchases is on both purchase screens and re-grants the unlock on any device signed in to the same Apple Account.
- Refunds are Apple's to give, through reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue one, but tell us what went wrong and we will try to fix it.
5. Third-party content
Fleuron bundles dictionaries and typefaces made by other people, and can fetch book details from Open Library and an optional narration voice from Hugging Face. Each is used under its own licence, and all of them are credited in the app under Settings → Licenses. Those services are not ours: we do not control what they return, and the accuracy of a publisher's blurb or a dictionary entry is theirs, not ours.
6. What the app does not promise
Fleuron is a reading and language-learning aid, and it is careful — it is built to show nothing rather than to show something wrong. It is still software: definitions, readings, difficulty judgements and character descriptions can be incomplete or mistaken, and none of it is a substitute for a teacher, a professional translation, or your own judgement. Do not rely on it where being wrong would matter.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Fleuron is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of Fleuron. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you actually paid for the app.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain liabilities, so parts of the two sections above may not apply to you. Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer under the law of the place you live.
8. Changes, and ending the agreement
We may update Fleuron, and we may change these terms — the effective date at the top will change with them, and a material change will be noted in the app's release notes. Using a later version means accepting the terms as they then stand.
You may end this agreement at any time by deleting the app. We may end it if you breach these terms materially. Sections 3, 6 and 7 survive the end of it.
9. Apple
Apple is not a party to this agreement and has no obligation to provide support for Fleuron. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you. Any claim that the app fails to conform to a warranty is, to the extent Apple's standard agreement allows, a matter for Apple's refund policy; beyond that refund, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Product claims, and any claim that the app infringes intellectual property, are our responsibility rather than Apple's.
